Privacy
How we handle personal information when you ask for a quote, message us on WhatsApp, book an intro call, register for tools, or write to us. We follow POPIA.
What we collect
Project briefs may include your name, email, phone, company, role and the details of what you want to build. Requested call times are stored with that enquiry. WhatsApp chats go through WhatsApp (Meta) first. We then see your number and the message you send.
Analytics
We use Plausible to count page views and two conversion events: brief submitted, and intro call requested. Plausible does not use cookies and does not collect personal identifiers. See Plausible privacy. The studio desk also records anonymous first party page views (path, tool, host, and a random visitor id in local storage) so we can see which pages and calculators get used. Sign in and studio pages are not counted.
Why we collect it
We use this information to reply, quote, and deliver software work you asked for. We do not sell or rent your data. We do not send marketing lists. Occasional project related follow up only happens if you agreed on the brief.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for as long as needed to quote, contract and support the work, then for a reasonable record period required by South African law. You can ask us to update or delete your details.
Security
Briefs are sent over HTTPS to our studio systems. Drafts in the Start a project form stay in your browser until you submit. We do not store payment cards on this website.
Free tools
Tax, bond, car finance and payslip tools run in your browser. We do not save the salary, loan or vehicle numbers you type. Volmakr is a separate product at volmakr.smartmacmane.co.za with its own privacy rules for fuel reports and accounts.
Accounts
If you register, we store your name, email, password hash and which tool you came from. That lets us count people who use the tools. You can still use every calculator without an account.
Ads
Free tools show ads so the tools can stay free. Until Google AdSense fills a unit, we may show house ads for SmartSeen, our employee recognition platform. When AdSense is approved, those units load Google ads instead. Google may collect device and visit data under its ads privacy rules. The quote homepage does not host those ad units. Your rights
You may request access, correction or deletion of personal information we hold about you. Write to info@smartmacmane.co.za. Our studio is at 4 Kleuter Street, Universitas, Bloemfontein, South Africa.
